Yesterday 20-Aug-2008, medicainfo has published 2 articles by its viewer Ajay ( medical student) from Delhi.

The viewer posted 2 articles, one about details of HIV virus, the second article was about “Transmission of HIV virus

Though both the articles are informative, but I liked the 2nd article “Transmission of HIV virus“. It is not that the 1st article was not good, but it was more like just illustrating something with too much medical terms. Medical related may like that article but to be very true I can’t understand many terms and properties of this virus from such article. But the second one was really down to earth for common people, it describes starting how that virus has been discovered, 1st instance of viral attack recognized, the way of treatment, that was adopted in early. The journey from early days up to today’s modern treatment achievements.

The most positive side of that information which I felt was that this article provides the information at the last of the article about what the next step of medical achievement to totally diffuse such viral attack.

This types of information really imparts some amount of hope in today’s modern complicated life.

At last thanks to such medical informational sites.

It is always a matter of concern while selecting appropriate and safer cable products at the time of installation whether at home or industry. The main concern is related to fire and the effects of fire on the cables used.
Most of the cables used are insulated with PVC plastics. But the threat of using PVC insulated cable is its behavior when exposed to high temperature or fire. These PVC plastics due to its property releases hydrogen chloride( a poisonous gas), Heavy Fumes, high smoke, poor visibility, presence of lead, corrosion are just a few pf the toxic effects that take a heavy till in fire accidents. In this scary situation PVC insulated cables have become the main culprit

So, Low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) is a better substitute for PVC cables.

Zero Halogen Flame Retardant Wires are insulated with ZHFR compound . It is a superior and safer alternative to conventional wires which are made of PVC. ZHFR insulated Wires are filled with hydrated fillers which release water during fire. They are user Friendly, help to save life, property and cost fractionally more money.

Use of Low smoke zero halogen cable reduces the amount of toxic and corrosive gases emitted during combustion. Zero halogen cable should be used in poorly ventilated areas. low smoke zero halogen is Where the protection of people and saving equipments from toxic and corrosive gasses is priority, zero halogene flame retardent cable is the only choice.

Capcabindia is the leading manufacturer & Exporter of Zero Halogen Flame Retardant Wires are insulated with ZHFR compound.

Capcabindia Ltd is a leading manufacturer & Exporter of superior quality ACSR cable.

ACSR conductors are consist of a solid or stranded steel core surrounded by strands of aluminum (E.C. GRADE). ACSR conductors are contentric stranded conductor. This conductor is composed of one or more layers of hard draw aluminium wire stranded with high strength coated steel core. ACSR conductors are available in a wide range of steel, containing carbon from 0.5% to 0.85 %.

Application or USE of ACSR cables

The higher strength ACSR conductors are used for river crossings, overhead ground wires, installations involving extra long spans etc. Against any given resistance of conductor, ACSR may be manufactured for having a wide range of tensile strength as per the requirement.

Advantages of ACSR cable

ACSR cable

Capcabindia explains “what is XLPE cable ?” The answer is collected from various reliable online sources.

XLPE cable is gaining popularity in high voltage application.
XLPE cable are available as LT XLPE cable & HT XLPE cable

Cross linked polyethylene insulated power cable (XLPE cable), having no necessity of metallic sheath, has much flexibility and is light in weight as compared with the conventional paper insulated cable.
* Nowadays XLPE cable is widely applied from 600 V to 154 kV transmission lines

* Owing to the excellent electrical characteristics, XLPE cable has an advantage of greater continuous and short-circuit current carrying capacity. In addition to that, it is easy in handling and installing as compared with the conventional paper insulated and lead sheathed cables.

* Furthermore, it is trouble-free in maintenance and simple in terminating and jointing. XLPE cable is now applied for up to 275 kV lines in place of OF cable and now 500 kV line XLPE cable has been studied for practical application in the near future.

Failure in uninterrupted power supply is very common problem for most of overhead transmission system. This is mostly happened due to use of contentional bare overhead conductor. Apart from safety reasons, the bare conductors are the causes immense loss of electrical energy.

aerial cable

aerial bunched cable

Aerial Bunched Cables (ABC) is a very novel concept for Over Head Power distribution. It provides higher level of safety and reliability, lower power losses and ultimate system economy by reducing installation, maintenance and operative cost. This system is ideal for rural distribution and it is especially perfect for installation in difficult terrains such as hilly areas, forest areas, coastal areas etc. ABC is also considered to be ideal for power distribution in congested urban areas with narrow lanes and by-lanes. In developing urban complex, ABC is the first choice because of its flexibility for re-routing as demanded by changes in urban development plan.

Capcabindia Ltd

It is the leading manufacturer & supplier of ABC cable.

APPLICATION:
Aerial Bunched Cables can be conveniently used:
As replacement of bare lines in Rural Areas, in woods and in other localities & narrows streets where the space limited.
As replacement of bare lines where reliability of supply is of prime importance.

aerial bunched cable sample

aerial bunched cable

As replacement of bare lines where high degree of stability of supply voltage is of importance.
In hilly terrains where cost of erection of overhead lines or under ground cable becomes very high.
As reinforcement of existing system without increasing voltage.
For temporary supplies

ADVANTAGES:

In comparison to bare overhead power distribution lines, ABC has very high reliability in maintaining services because power and neutral conductors are insulated with the best dielectric medium, resulting in the following advantages:

Less fault rate on account of good protection against line and ground fault by high winds or falling trees or birds especially in hilly areas & forests as encountered in rural distribution networks.
High insulation resistance to earth in all seasons and polluted atmospheres. Negligible leakage currents and low losses.
Multiple circuits of Power and Telephone cables could be strung in the same set of poles or any other supports like walls etc.
Better adaptability to run concurrently with existing overhead bare conductor system without any interference.
High capacitance and low inductance leading to low impedance of lines.
Lower voltage drop, higher current capacities. VIS-À-VIS Better Voltage Regulation.
Longer spans and longer distance lines are possible with better system stability.
ABC cables are much safer than bare Conductors.
It can be over hung in dense vegetation and forests.
Additional connections can be easily and quickly made with hot – line connectors.
Total lines costs are reduced.
Maintenance is very easy.
